Re the recent correspondence on this topic, an excellent history of
the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway (of which the
Worcester-Hereford and Worcester-Leominster lines were part) is
published by Oakwood Press. My copy is mislaid within what I
satirically refer to as my library, but Oakwood Press' website is at:

http://www.pastimes.co.uk/transport/emporium/alalpubindex2_1.html

They have many other titles on transport which may be of interest to
listers -- e.g. railways in Stourbridge, the Cleobury Mortimer and
Ditton Priors Light Railway, etc.). A fair bit of the content is of
interest only to railway nuts, but there is a lot of useful local
history too.

Anyone who has recently travelled between Worcester and London on one
of the ghastly 'sprinter' units will be amused/depressed/both to know
that in the 1900s the crack Worcester-London expresses made the
journey in just over two hours. Bet you got a decent meal, too. Ah
well, that's progress/Railtrack for you!

A search on http://www.google.com (if you are not using google as a
search engine I suggest you try it, miles quicker than most of the
competition and *no* annoying banner ads and associated junk) for
oxford+worcester+wolverhampton+railway brought up 400+links.
