Hello:
I read your post to the list w/interest.
I cannot connect to your surname NEWMAN or to
your Arthur GILBERT but do have my GILBERT family
in Yardley, St-Edburgha parish, Worcestershire
early 1600's until they emigrated to the early
colonies in USA ca's 1639 & 44/45.
Have you found ancestors, earlier time frame, re
your Arthur ??
Bev

Subject: [WOR] Re: NEWMAN
Hi from a Newbie
Can anyone resolve a problem that I have with my GILBERT tree?
I have George Arthur GILBERT marrying Alice NEWMAN in Studley
1894. Alice is shown as being born in Bayton 1871, father Henry.
I also have Alice NEWMAN born in Yardley 1871 as daughter to
Esther and step-daughter to John GILBERT.
Her mother's second marriage produced a half-brother George H
GILBERT in Yardley 1883.
If there are two people named Alice NEWMAN the coincidences are
surprising. I have Alice (mother Esther) in the 1891 census, and
I have Alice (father Henry) in the 1881 census. I cannot find
either in the other census... if you follow.
The coincidence of the area, the name GILBERT, and the dates must
surely have some significance?
