Subject: ASTON, tracing of land ownership

My 4-gr grandfather, Joseph Aston lived in Netherton, near Dudley, according
to the 1851 census and was born in Kingswinford. His will dated 19 March
1825 bequeaths :
"two certain cottages and gardens situate in the parish of Old Swinford and
also a parcel of cottage ground situate in the parish of Kingswinford" to
his son Elijah;
and "my two dwelling houses (formerly one dwelling house)...situate in the
parish of Dudley in the several occupations of RICHARD HALL and THOMAS
PARTRIDGE" to his son John;
and "my dwelling house in the parish of Kingswinford now in the possession
of JOSEPH PARISH", a "dwelling house in the parish of Kingswinford in the
possession of THOMAS GRANT" and a "dwelling house in the occupation of SIMON
GLOVER" to his son Benjamin.
The rents from Benjamin's properties were to go to Joseph's daughter Phoebe,
wife of BENJAMIN MILLS of Netherton.
The rents from "my two dwelling houses in Kingswinford in the several
possession of RICHARD WATERHOUSE and ____ TRIMMINS" were to go to his
daughter Esther, wife of JOHN GRIFFINS.
The rents from "(dwelling houses) in the possessions of DAVID STEVENS and
THOMAS STEVENS" to his daughter Ann the wife of THOMAS PASKIN.
The will was witnessed by JOB FISHER, WILLIAM BROWN and THO. PEARSALL.
I have included all the particulars in case anyone recognizes any of the
other names mentioned in the will.
My question however, is, what can I do to located these various parcels of
land and trace their ownership both before and after 1826, when the will was
proved and Joseph Aston died?
In Canada, we have registry offices where the ownership of parcels of land
can be traced back to the time when the parcels of land were created in
Canada, generally the late 1790's in the province of Ontario where I live.
What system is in use in England?
Thanks for any help you can provide,
Geoff Aston
