An email just disappeared into the unknown in which I mentioned Bennetts and
Turners. I meant Turners! So here goes again.

Hi Terry

As my own researches at the Family History Centre to day went better than
expected I was able to look for your missing Charles Henry Turner in the
Bredon parish.

I checked the Bredon parish register from 1848 to 1860 to make certain not
to miss him.

On 4th June 1854 George William Turner the son of Charles Turner ( a mason)
and his wife Hannah Turner was baptised. He can be found on the 1881 census
as corporal in the Royal Marines lodging in Everton Lancashire. This is
significant, as on May 18th 1856 Charles and Hannah had another son
baptised supposedly George Henry Turner. I think that this must be your
Charles Henry and that the vicar had a senior moment when he entered the
name in the parish register. It was not very common at that time for family
to name a second son with the same first name as another son who was still
living, although I am sure listers can come up with examples on their Family
trees when that happened!

During the period I searched I also found the baptism of James Turner
February 6th 1859 (same parents) who appears on the 1881 census as a
brickmaker in London.

Regards

Jacquie
