Hi R.A. Entwhistle,
You wrote (my comments interspersed)
Sir,
I presume by starting your email with the phrase 'Grrrrrrr' that you
are
annoyed by yet another virus related mailing; well, I am absolutely
fuming!
**Yes, I am annoyed, but anyone with a sense of humour would have seen
that I was trying to be light-hearted about the matter. I don't
particularly care that you are "absolutely fuming". I have a duty to the
subscribers of this list to try and prevent such postings that have
absolutely nothing to do with genealogy or family history**
How dare you tell anyone what software they should install on their
machine
How dare you tell anyone what use they may or may not make of the
Internet
**Very simply - if you use the Internet *without* adequate, up-to-date
anti-virus software, you are asking for trouble.**
How dare you make the banal assumptions that
a) your readers do not have the intelligence required to pause and
think before opening mail and/or attachments and
**It was simply because a ***subscriber*** sent a message to the list.
*not me* warning others not to open attachments that I responded.
Everyone should be aware of the rules of my list, and the vast majority
abide by them**
b) everyone one uses susceptible MS products
**Agreed, but most people do, and anyway, I didn't make any reference to
MS products**

**I don't particularly appreciate you replying to the list with these
sort of comments. I clearly wrote 'End of thread' and that's precisely
what I meant. My list, my rules. You obviously don't intend to abide by
them - so you're burnt toast**

If you have sources of guaranteed information for family
history/genealogy research, please post brief details to the list and
volunteer to do look-ups - every little helps.
