I am looking for any information on the following name:
Place: CAMBRIDGESHIRE
Name: KIMPTON - Litlington, or anywhere in Cambridgeshire. I am in
particular looking for any information on the family of Thomas and Lucy
Eleanor (nee STERNE) KIMPTON. They had a family of nine children:
Ann b. 27 May 1825
Lucy Sophia b. 12 Dec, 1826
Charles Augustus b.31 March, 1828 ( My gggrandfather. )
Thomas Robinson b. 23 Aug, 1829
Mary b. 14 Feb, 1831
William Stephen b. 4 Oct, 1832
Edward John b. 6 June, 1834
Frederick George b. 30 May, 1836
Henry b. 16 Nov, 1838
Several brothers ( William and Edward )emmigrated to Melbourne, Australia
in the middle 1800's and went on to found the Kimpton Flour Mills which
produced flour until 1980. There even was a book published on the flour
mill which is titled "Where Have All The Flour Mills Gone? A History Of W.S
Kimpton and Sons - Flour Millers" by W.Lewis Jones isbn:0 9591122 0 0
Considering that these brothers came from a farming background it is not
surpising that they continued into flour processing. Charles and Ann as
well as Thomas Robinson also emmigrated to Australia but so far I cannot
find their records.....
If you have any knowledge of the above line or similar interest in the name
KIMPTON please contact me.
Kind regards,
Barbara Starr
