Hello everyone,
I wonder if anyone can help in finding the archives of Ely Ales, Forehill,
Ely.
My grandfather was publican of The Cricketers Arms, Chatteris from 1911
until his death in 1941. My grandmother then continued running the pub
until her death, at the age of 83 in 1963. She was teetotal, and always
said that the pub never made a profit until my grandfather died! I would
like to discover some history of the pub, which was very old, even then.
I know that Ely Ales was taken over, and the brewery is no longer in Ely.
The site is a Car Park. I wonder if it was Greene King who took over.
Does anyone know, and if so could anyone point me in the right direction to
discover some history of the "Cricketers".
Hopefully,
Elizabeth(Plaigne, France - 40C today - is it still raining in England?
Never mind, its good for the garden)
