Dear Colin,

Cant help you with BYFLEET. But regarding tracing Methodist or
Non-Conformist marriages and births, you might look for something called
'Dr William's Library Records'. The Archives Office in Cambridge has them all.

A number of Non-Conformists in Cambridgeshire (and elsewhere)at that time
registered their marriages, births and deaths, not with the parish church
which they of course rejected, but with a friendly doctor in London named
Dr. Williams. He simply kept a record of any births deaths or marriages
which any Non-Conformist family wanted to record.

I found the birth of two people in my family tree there. They were two
brothers born in Fordham, Cambridgeshire, in the 1790s to Non-Conformist
parents. The births were not registered until 1816 when presumably they
heard about Dr Williams and went down to London and registered them.

Regards,
Jeff Atkinson,
Melbourne, Australia.
