Hi Liane and Other MARCHANT researchers:
In the publication of the Proceedings of the Huguenot Society of London,
Proceedings 1962-1975 (20N4-22N5) article "Distribution of Huguenot
Refugees in England", under Soham, CAMBS, it is noted that a Jacob MARCHANT
was minister at Sohan or Soham in 1687-8; by 1690 he had retired to
London.(1) "These references show that MARCHANT was in charge of a
worshipping community, but there is no other evidence as to its existence.
It must have been conformist."
"(1) Hug. Lib. French Committee, Accounts: 1687, nos. 9 and 12; Reglement
1688 (proposed pensions);Accounts 1690, no. 2"
I wonder if MARCHANT could have taken the register to London with him and
deposited it in the French Church or somewhere.
Regards -
Carol
