Hello

Does anyone think they may have a connection with George Ground(s) KING?

Born in Ely in the September quarter of 1854 he later went on to marry a Jane
Eliza ? They had a son, Robert KING (b. abt. 1876, Leyton, London) and a
daughter Ada that I know of but there may have been other children.

I have been told that George was once a soldier and ended his days as an
in-pensioner at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. I contacted their museum and
they do have a record of a George KING of about the right age who served with
the 19th Hussars.

I know he was in the Highgate/Upper Holloway area of London at the turn of
the century working as a "carman" but would dearly love to discover more
about his origins. I have applied for his birth certificate but in the
interim wondered if anyone could see a connection or perhaps could find
mention of a KING family in Ely in the 1851 census.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Leigh YEAGER
