Sorry about the deception - it was just a bit of Easter fun <grin>
Most people "twigged" what was going on and thanks for your answers
the best of which was

"regrettable that they were not also asked to print their name
underneath their 'cross' signature!"

Thank you also to the person who wrote to tell me of a similar book
which they have which is filled with her ancestors wax (signature) seals!

Nobody would admit to having a book containing their transported
ancestors thumb prints!

So how old COULD an autograph book be - very late 1800's?
