Toclarify the origin of Xrist and Xristopher
The greek alphabet has some additional letters to the
English (or American ) alphabet
these include
X pronounce CHI ; which is equivalent to our CH dipthong
hence in greek Christ was written
CHi = CH
Rho= R written somewat like a p;
Iota = I
sigma = S
tau = T
of course the letter P was pi; as used in mathematics.
other additional letters were
PHI = ph
PSI = ps
Eta = long E
Epsilon = short E
Omicron = short O
Omega = long O
Xi = our X,
I have not attempted to use the actual greek character set,
as they will doubtless be changed using e-mail.
there were no letters equivalent to: C, F, H, J , Q, V, W, Y
My fouryears study of Classical greek, nearly 50 years ago,
was not a waste of time avter all
