Jane,

Thank you so much for the baptism data! I really appreciate it. What is
the source for these data? Does it happen to list the church so I can write
for a copy of the record?

I was most surprised to see James being baptized in 1855. If this is the
right James, he is the oldest. Is there anything that lists the age at the
time of baptisms?

I sensed my comment about the lot in life of my ancestors may have come
across as demeaning. I certainly did not mean to sound "uppity". I was
only trying to convey that unlike the more affluent, they would not have
moved too far from their home or taken far holidays where they would have
met future spouses.

I am indeed proud of my ancestors. One thing for sure, they had more "guts"
than I do! I can't imagine my great grand parents, with two toddlers in
tow, boarding a wooden sailing ship of only 138 feet in length and crossing
the north Atlantic in winter. I'm not sure I ever wanted anything that
badly!

Thanks again for your rapid response! If in the course of your own research
you should run across a Scarborough, I'd love to receive the information.

Gene
