Any suggestions as to the significance of the words "sojourner in the
parish" written against the name of the bride in parish marriage records c
1800. I do know what the work sojourn means - I am interested in its
significance. One suggestion is that it ensured that there could be no
future claim on the parish by the woman.
Would be grateful for an ideas.
