I have just seen a picture of old Wisbech which has brought back vivivd
memories of Scrimshaw's Passage - between Hill Street & the Horsefair -
in Wisbech.
I remember it as a narrow passage where the upper floors of the buildings
leaned towards each other, and there was a wonderful sweet shop where
Mum always stopped to buy my brother & I a few sweets on our way to
catch the bus at the Horsefair back to Christchurch.
There was also a wool shop in the passage where Mum bought her
patterns and knitting wool.
For reference, I'm talking about the mid-1950s.
Does anyone else have such memories of Scrimshaw's Passage & the
Horesefair + the Empire Cinema where I saw "Summer Holiday" after
queuing for about 2 hours with my mother & brother!
