Ann, I seem to remember that my gran said that she lived in Forest Gate,
this could have been an upmarket name for the area, as I believe that it
was nearby. They tended to do that - when they went to Hastings it was
always to St Leonards ! From what I remember they were quite substantial
properties. My gran owned the property but lived in the upstairs flat
