I was very interested in the message about Daniel Rogers. I have worked
on both the paternal and maternal ancestors of Judith Rogers Rogers and
her husband John Rogers of Gloucester and Newburyport. (John was
grandson of Daniel's father.) With one exception (the parents of Richard
Hubbard, who died 1719 aged 88 in Salisbury) I have collected information
on all their American ancestors. If anyone is curious, I would be
pleased to share information on any of the various lines.
I have not worked on the English ancestors of the Rogers, but I have seen
the old NEHGR articles that profess to identify the father of John Rogers
of Dedham, England as a John Rogers of Moulsham in the parish of
Chelmsford, co. Essex, who died 1601. Does anyone know whether recent
work has validated that or carried the Rogers line to earlier generations?
On an unrelated matter: Does Dorothy Gage, or anyone else, know whether
the Susannah who married Henry Kingsbury of Ipswich and Rowley was the
sister or the sister-in-law of John Gage of Ipswich (1633) and Bradford?
The conjecture that she was is evidently based on a court deposition of 1669.
