Subject: Where's Ralph Tomkins??
Date: Sat, 5 Jul 1997 00:27:56 -0400

I should've quit while I was ahead! I happened upon a new version of The
History of Salem at the Boston Public Library yesterday...Ralph Tomkins
name/lineage seems to be missing from this version of the book! So does
John Foster, although one by his name is on several pages (there are so
many John Foster's of the era). What happened to them? After not finding
Ralph Tomkin's name in the index I thumbed page by page through the
book, which is not a good thing to do anyway, I know. But I didn't find
either of them...was I that tired, that I missed it?
If anybody has a copy of this, could you double-check for me? The
History of Salem Vol. 3. I admit I didn't check the other volumes, but
I'm fairly certain it has the same families and stories as in the
version/volume I have checked before.
This reprint was published "under the auspices of Parker River
Researches of Newburyport, 1988." Record Publishing Co/Haverhill, MA
(and?)The Anundsen Pub.Co, Iowa. The Newburyport library was thanked.
...writing before I panic and/or check myself into the nuthouse "But I
didn't imagine it, I saw it! I saw it! It was there!"
