Israel Kenny (Keny/Kenney/etc.), born probably early 1740's, blacksmith,
married Sussanah Hood of Topsfield, Mass., June 9, 1763. She was born 27
Oct 1745, and they removed shortly after their marriage to the
Maugerville Township on the Saint John River in Sunbury County, New
Brunswick.
Edwin W. Bell, in his book "Israel Kenny His Children and Their
Families" (Fredericton, N.B.: privately published, 1944), said Israel
Kenny was born in Ireland, probably in Belfast.
Although I have not seen it, I have been told that Anne Irene Beard
Stanhope, in a book called "Descendants of Sir Thomas Kinne," p. 34,
said Israel Kenney was born in 1731 in Topsfield, Mass.
Mabel Gould Hinckley, in her "Keney, Kenney, Kinney - A Monograph," said
Israel was a son of Josiah and Deborah (Towne) Kenney, but she did not
cite the source of that information.
Another source, attributed to Sutton and Salem vital records (no more
detail than that) has Israel Kenney, b. 23 Oct 1739, Sutton, Worcester
Co., Mass., son of Daniel Kenny (b. 1705) and Elizabeth Stockwell.
Does anyone know of a primary source that documents Israel Kenny's birth
or baptism and the names of his parents?
