This list was set up by Bob Bamford. He has been retired and completely
out of touch, except to a very few, for at least the last five years. This
list was never even supposed to have posting access. Someone at Rootsweb
screwed up and changed the attribute. The listmaster at Rootsweb has been
notified repeatedly that something needs to be done - reset the attribute so
that even if someone subscribes they won't be able to post.
To make this even worse, this is the first list listed in the Essex county
related lists. It should be moved to the bottom of the page.

The MAEssex list is the one that took over, if you want to put it that
way. As I said, Essex-Roots was supposed to be READ ONLY.

I agree with Rootsweb's policy of always keeping a list once it's been set
up. This is so that people can access the archives. However, I think they
need to make some changes as to access, as with this list. The listmaster is
a mindless little robot who doesn't know how to act on his/her own
initiative and correct a problem.
