John,
I had never noticed your sig link, I visited your memorial page and it broke
my heart to read what had happened to Brennan. My heart goes out to you and
your family. I have a warning for other parents because nothing has changed
at schools they do not supervise.
I have two little girls that the first week of school the 6 year-old came
home with a blackened bruise covering the entire side of her face. Noone
called or contacted me. About three weeks later she came home with a walnut
sized blood blister under her chin, with the still visiable yellow tinge
from the first mishap that no-one knows what happened. Danielle was in tears
when we asked what had happened she didn't remember anything. School starts
in august out here in az.
October 4th I get a call maybe because I sent in a scathing diatribe about
not being called why doesn't anyone know what is happening to a six year-old
that is coming home battered and bruised.
My 8 year-old daughter Taylor is in the nurses office in pain she was
running and fell.
Turns out she was shoved to the ground by another child, a boy, her arm was
broken. I was told the school is not liable for anything.. etc. My girls are
are doing the K-12 school at home. Only After much back and forth with Dad
about what's next. I feared to send them to school anymore afraid what the
next call would be.
All you parents and grandparents reading this, tell your childen, emphasis
to them they are responsible for their own safety. To behave as told to at
home and don't expect anyone at school to look out for them. If I sent my
girls to school with the same bruises and broken arm that my girls recieved
at the school I would have had the authorities asking why no-one is
supervising and caring for the girls or worse depending on what state you
live in. But Schools have no fear of sending children home as if they are
abused children. When I attempted to talk with the principal all three times
I contacted or was at the school she was busy, I asked for her to call. No
call.
I am re-locating back to Connecticut and plan on being pro-active about
supervision at the schools. My girls cry about missing their teachers and
classmates and the music concerts etc. After reading about young Brennan
my heart breaks, I thank god my girls are here to cry about anything.
Patricia
