Would welcome hearing from anyone doing research on RAINSFORD, I know that
name has strong Essex connections.
In following my MACEY tree in Wiltshire, mainly in the Chilmark/Tisbury
area for a couple of centuries, my ggg grandmother Maria Macey, nee
Polden, apparently married a James Rainsford in Salisbury after her first
husband died. This was about 1834.
Trouble is that although she had a child by that name and used the
Rainsford name until she died, I have been unable to find any marriage.
But have found a fairly reliable record of Rainsford as having married
someone else.!
This is not unusual of course, even at that time.
I would like to try to find out more and it seems it is best if I try to
trace that James Rainsford.
Maria co-incidently died whilst staying with one of her Macey sons who at
that time kept a pub in Brentwood. Until we found that out there had been
no suggestion of an Essex connection.
It may be that son took on the pub and thats why she was there? but as
Rainsford is a strong Essex name I wonder if he/she was brought there by
some other twist of co-incidence.
Sorry to ramble on. Would appreciate any hints or information anyone can
add. Please dont bore the rest of the list members - mail me direct please.
