John: Ashdon is a small village near Saffron Waldon. Much later
than your connection, Ashdon Hall (the manor of Ashdon it was referred
to in early 1800's) was owned and occupied by my relatives, Harriet
Farren and then Elizabeth Hammond and her son Rev William Hammond.

Hope this helps. I think the history of the estate or manor is
detailed in the Victoria History of Essex
