Pity you don't live in Southern California. At the Pasadena Genealogical
Jamboree, I purchased a book titled A Genealogical Map To England and Wales
(why they call it a genealogical map, I don't know. it's just a mid 1800's
map xeroxed and published in book form)
in it. Stebbing is shown to be in the upper north-east corner of Essex, abt
15 miles S. of the Suffolk boarder, 15 miles west of the Hertfordshire
border. it's abt 5 miles east of Braintree. does that help?
