I don't know about the book on Finchingfield but we have our own dialect
dictionary first published in 1923 and republished in 1969 with an updating
addendum by John Appelby.

"An Essex Dialect Dictionary by Edward Gepp, pub. S.R. Publishers ISBN 0
85409 558.6"

This book contains a wealth of information. As well as the dictionary there
is a chapter on Essex dialect grammar, various appendices on many subjects -
including some comments on our dialect by a German professor no less! - and
some notes on Essex words found in the United States. There is a short
biography of Gepp - sometime Vicar of High Easter and teacher at Felsted
School - and a wealth of references to other relevant books on the matter of
Essex speech.

Also on my bookshelf I have "Essex Ballads and other Poems by Charles
Benham". This has a short guide to pronunciation which I'll post to any
interested parties. This may have to be via TIFF file attachment as it
contains unusual characters to describe the phonetics - which is why I am
not including it with this message.
