Hi Listers

I know with what horror everyone views a request like this one - and I have TWO g.grandparents called Smith! The one I am trying to trace is Emma SMITH, my g.grandmother.

She was born c.1825 in Theydon (then known as Thoydon) Mount, at Augers, or Algars Farm. I presume she was baptised in the local church but the records for that church are not on line. See my web site http://www.welcome.to/pavitts page labelled "Churches and The White Bear" showing a notice in the church doorway listing the cost of marriages & burials in March 1831.
The farm name could also be slightly corrupted but the 1841 Census was a very difficult to read.
Her parents were John SMITH (well, he would be called that, wouldn't he!) and Jane Smith who was 51 when Emma married John PAVITT on 12th April 1842. Her father was already dead.Emma and John had 21 children.

Could S.K.S. when visiting the Chelmsford office, see if they can find any reference to her birth. I need also to know what her mother's maiden name was.

Somewhere along the line I am connected to Josef GRIMALDI, the clown, and it must be through the SMITH's or Emma's mother.

If anyone can remove a brick from my ten year old wall I will be ecstatic

T.I.A.
