Hello,
"Crown Inn" (or "The Crown Inn") is a very widespread name for inns and
public houses, like "The King's Arms" or "The Red Lion". As in 2002, there
were probably many "Crown Inns" all over the country. If you have seen the
1841 census entry for your family, does it really just give "Crown Inn,
Essex" as the address? Surely the entry names a town or village.
I may be wrong, but I can't see any way of answering your question without
more to go on.
Regards,
David Lamb (Paignton, Devon, UK)
