Hello,

There is not (as far as I know) a single index for the whole of Essex, but
the Essex Society for Family History has produced microfiche indexes for the
various registration districts of the county. Go to
http://www.esfh.org.uk/Books/Books%20-%20Top%20level.htm and click on
Census 1851 Indexes for details. I hope this helps.
