My great grandfather DANIEL CHRISTOPHER O'BRIEN/OBRIAN (Born 1865-66) ran
away from home in Ireland (aged about 15-17) and changed his surname to
Bryan some time after his arrival in England. Daniel claimed to have been a
Lance Sergeant in the Irish Guards - and though I can't find proof of his
service, as a child I remember a photo of Daniel in a very impressive
uniform. He married EMILY (MARIA?) SWAIN, an army school headmistress, in
1890 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in the Strand, London. Some time
before Daniel's death in 1914, the family moved to Walthamstow. Daniel &
Emily had 7 children, DANIEL CHRISTOPHER (1890), WILLIAM FRANCIS (my
grandfather, 1892), THOMAS, MINNIE, GEORGE, HARRY, and RENIE (IRENE?).
I would be very grateful for any information about this family or any of
their descendants and would be pleased to share the information I have.
Best wishes,
Colleen
