Lesley,

For your information, I am aware a Sarah STOCK married Thomas GILBEY on the 20th March 1813 at Finchingfield in Essex. I believe they also had at least three children, Harriet, Samuel and George all of whom appear to have died quite young. Two of them at one year of age or less and the other at 14.

You might also find The Finchingfield Heritage Trust at http://www.finchingfield-heritage.co.uk/ of great help to you as they have Church and chapel records for Finchingfield and often information on the surrounding villages of Great & Little Sampford, Bardfield etc.

As a point of interest, I did check the 1881 census and found it contains details of 736 STOCK family members that were either born or living in Essex at the time of the census.
