Has anyone heard of, and/or know the whereabouts of Essex historian Patrick
STREETER?
He wrote an article about one of my poor PAVITTS (Alice) who was raped by
the vicar, for whom she worked, and gave birth to a son, Frederick Charles,
in 1902.
She was not the only parlour maid, apparently, who had to climb out of a
window to escape his clutches.
I suspect she was the Alice PAVITT, 21 on the 1901 Epping Census, listed as
a Parlour Maid Domestic.
The Vicar was a Beauchamp of Essex Villages fame. The 'vicarage' looks more
like a mansion
and is now privately owned and re-named White Lodge, I believe. It is in
Little Laver, near Chipping Ongar.
I would like to contact him to buy his book.
(Info gleaned from a Sunday Paper Property magazine article)
