Hello everybody
Thanks for all the information and I will follow up your suggestions. I do
know that not all family members were registered. Although it was a legal
requiremnt the penalty was imposed on ther regisrar rather than the parents up until
around 1875 so it may be that he was never registered.
My Jolly family who come from Laxfield & Bungay in Suffolk appear not to
have been registered or baptised although they appear in the 1881 census. It is
almost as if they only had the female members registered and not the male.
Thanks again everybody
Patrick
