Hello,

Assuming you've already tried the FreeBMD site,
one other thing you could try is the search and courier service operated by
the Essex Society for Family History (but it covers births, marriages and
deaths for the whole UK). (As you know the year she was born, the cost of
such a search would be small.) The "Search" part of the service refers to
searching the indexes of the General Register Office (useful if the
particular entry you want hasn't yet been transcribed by the FreeBMD
project). The "Courier" part refers to the obtaining of the certificate on
your behalf and posting it on to you. You can use each part of the service
independently of the other - that is, if you already have the necessary
references, for example from FreeBMD, you can use the Courier service to
order the certificate, and if you use the search service, only to discover
that some detail doesn't match your information so you do not wish to go on
and order that particular certificate, that's fine. For details of the
service, go to the society's website: www.esfh.org.uk and click on the link
to the left of your screen which says Courier and Search Services

Hope this helps.
Regards,
