A big thank you to Joan, Sue, Cornelia and Brenda for your clues in the
search for ISRAEL ALSTON.
Joan thought that the entry on the 1901 Census for Israel HODGSON who was
the right age and from Nelson, Lancaster might be a mis-spelling. However,
I remembered that when I was searching for my Suffolk family in Kersey I
came across in 1881 an elder son, George SEGGER whose mother was Jane MUNSON
b. Boxford. He was aged 20 and his next sibling, my g.grandmother was aged
6. I wondered about the rather large gap but then all was revealed in 1891
when George MUNSON aged 30 was living with his wife and young family in
Kersey and had staying with him his mother - Jane SEGGER. George was listed
on this census as having been born in Boxford - the same village as his
mother. Obviously born out of wedlock but given the name of SEGGER
instead of MUNSON on the previous census.
You have to be a detective in this game...............! You never know,
Israel Alston's mother may have been HODGSON.
On with the search...........Judy/Perth. W. Australia
