Hello,

Isn't there some confusion here? Herb's message about unsubscribing was
sent to the Essex-UK Rootsweb list, so I assume that is the list he wanted
to unsubscribe from, not the british-geanealogy one. The instructions you
have given wouldn't work for a Rootsweb list.

To unsubscribe from the Essex-UK Rootsweb list, send a message in plain
text, with just the single word unsubscribe and nothing else at all
(so no explanations about why you want to unsubscribe) in both the subject
line and the message itself. Send the message to
if you are subscribed in List Mode, or to
if you are in digest mode.

Incidentally, I'm certainly not criticising Rod; perhaps Herb was also
trying to unsubscribe from the Essex list of british-genealogy, and Rod's
reply got posted to the Rootsweb list by mistake.

Regards,
David Lamb (Paignton, Devon, UK)
