Hello,
The hospital went under a number of names. Its first name was ""The Essex
Lunatic Asylum". When it closed in 2000, it was known as "Warley
Hospital" (according to the Essex Record Office), and not "Warley Mental
Hospital". It is certainly one and the same place. I have some information
about it from a book entitled "Warley Hospital - the First 100 Years", which
I managed to borrow on inter-library loan some time ago. Unfortunately, the
time-period which interested me was the 1870s, so I didn't take too much
notice of the 20th century information.
