Congratulations to the owners of a - nameless - former Wigborough pub, now a
private house for their amazing DIY efforts.
Those lumpy 3-400 year old walls really did need the patina of the centuries
smoothing out - and that Day-Glo yellow paint has really finished off them
off to a tee. I just love the hand painted sign above the front door too -
'The old ...... - a useful finishing touch, because now no one would ever
guess that this was once a pub, let alone a very old building once upon a
time.
Congratulations too to those who have totally transformed Tolleshunt D'Arcy
Chapel begond all recognition. How did you manage to turn that lovely old
red brickwork bright orange and as smooth as glass? It looks brand, spanking
new now. Must have taken you months with a sanding machine to achieve that.
I'm speechless. What can I say to DIYers who've obviously worked so hard to
remove any trace of the centuries these old buildings have survived. All I
can think of is - are you nuts, or something? Why buy old properties in
order to destroy them? And why the heck didn't anyone at the planning office
check the plans for these Listed buildings?
