Hi George,

> Having subscribed to this list 10 days ago, i.e. on 6th. March and the
only message received in all that time being the automated confirmation
message on the 7th. I'm beginning to wonder if anyone else is subscribed or
if I'm all alone.
> S-o-o-o, this message is a test to see if it gets returned. If it does
then I guess no-one else uses this list and I might as well unsubscribe as
there is no point in sending messages to myself. If it doesn't then there
must be a glitch in the subscription database in which case I will try
unsubscribing and then re-subscribing.

I subscribed over a week ago and have had the same problem as you have had.
In fact I subscribed for the first time this morning and yours is the only
e-mail I have received. I did not even receive a confirmation message.

I do know from my Research Library that the Essex List is a very active List
so hang in there George. I was on this List about 18 months ago and it was
excellent.

I know there are some problems with some lines - I think they said "under
sea" via Japan but at the time I did not take any notice as I had not been
affected - or so I thought. I think they also said it was something to do
with Telstra lines. When I say "they" I mean one of our local mailing
lists.

Hang in there George. I know of two people who are on this List and if I
get the opportunity I will give them a telephone call. I won't be on the
computer much for the next week as my cousin arrives from the UK tomorrow
and will be spending a week with me - unfortunately he is not interested in
Family History.

How on earth I got your message and no others, I have no idea!!!!
