Dear People,

I am responding to Michel Bernet's message today (99/01/26), concerning
"Tutschas" in Czechoslovakia. I do hope I can help him because he has always
tried in this mail group and in the Jewishgen mail group to help many other
people with much generosity and good humor.

In my 196l Columbia Lippencott Gazetteer, I have found a listing for
"Tuschau" Czechslovia. This listing refers the searcher back to "Touskov, or
Mesto Touskov, or in German, "Tuschkau." This is a village which has or had a
population of only 1,212. It is (or was) located in Western Bohemia, on the
Mze River, on or very near a railroad. It is (or was) 6 miles from Pilsen.
Perhaps Mr. Bernet's "Tutschas" was the Yiddish spelling for "Tuschau."
