It's been awhile since I last posted my family info, so here we go again.
I'm looking for ancestry and any family history on the family of John Wesley
Evans, who was born abt 1815 in North Carolina. In 1848 he married Cordelia
G. Bell, dau of Abner Bell, in Lowndes County, MS. Over the next 12 years,
he and his family can be found in Lowndes County, Oktibbiheh County, and
Noxubee County, all in MS. After 1860, he seems to have vanished. In 1870,
his son Abner is found in Navarro County, Texas, living with his maternal
grandparents. I have no idea what happened to John W. or Cordelia, but I
suspect they either died are were killed in the civil war. I am particularly
interested in finding out anything about John's ancestry and his childrens'
families. So how about it, out there? Anyone with MS Evans or Bells?

Descendants of John Wesley Evans

Generation No. 1

1. John Wesley1 Evans was born Abt. 1815 in North Carolina, and died
Unknown. He married Cordelia G. Bell March 16, 1848 in Lowndes County,
Mississippi, daughter of Abner Bell and Francis.

Notes for John Wesley Evans:

According to the 1850 Mississippi census, John Wesley Evans and his wife
Cordelia were living in Oktibbeha County. John was employed as an overseer,
which probably meant he supervised the slave labor force for a plantation.
In the 1860 census, the family appears in Noxubee County where John is still
employed as an overseer.

Children of John Evans and Cordelia Bell are:

2 i. Mamie2 Evans, died Abt. 1952 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She married
Oscar Carver.

Notes for Oscar Carver:

Died on honeymoon in Mexico.

3 ii. Fanny A. E. Evans, born Abt. 1849 in probably Oktibbeha County,
Mississippi; died Unknown.

4 iii. William D. Evans, born Abt. 1851 in Mississippi.

5 iv. John Wesley Evans , Jr., born Abt. 1852 in Mississippi.

6 v. C. B. Evans, born Abt. 1855 in Mississippi.

7 vi. Abner Norman Evans, born November 02, 1857 in Noxubee County,
Mississippi; died December 19, 1931 in Fort Worth, Texas. He married Nancy
Alice Dixson December 06, 1881 in Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas.

Notes for Abner Norman Evans:

The 1880 Texas Federal census shows Abner N. Evans living in Navarro
County, as follows:
