I am looking for information on Allen Evans listed in the 1830 and
1840 Franklin County Alabama census.

Allen is not listed in the 1850 census in Alabama, and it appears that
none of his 10 children(4 boys,6 girls) are listed for franklin or
bordering counties either. (obviously married girls wouldn't be)

I believe one of his daughters, Mary Ann Evans may be the one female
(10-15) from the 1830 census that is not listed with Allen in the 1840
cesnsus.

I have found her in the 1840 franklin county,AL census as Ann
Vanniss(Van Ness really). She is also in the 1850 lauderdale county,al
census as Mary Vaness,36,KY
She died in 1854 although I do not know where.

I suspect that this Allen Evans may be the correct one because one of
Mary Ann's 4 grandchildren is Allen Evans Van Ness and Allen and Mary
Ann are both in the same county.

From the 1850 census for Mary Ann, I think that Allen may have moved to
Alabama from Kentucky in the 1810's or 1820's as Mary Ann's birthpace is
listed as Kentucky.

Any information on Allen or possible children is appreciated.
Charlie
