Hello Fellow Researchers,

My maiden name is Muhlitner(Muehlleitner) and, although my great
grandfather came to the United States in1852 from his hometown of
Ziswingen, Bavaria, Germany I believe the family had to leave the
Salzburg area because of their religious beliefs.

The earliest resource I have is from a wedding register in Buhl/Ries in
the year 1664: Balthasar Muehlleitner from Unterregau in a small area
of land above the Enz (a river).

In a wedding registry of Balgheimer of 1668, this remark was found: The
family Muehlleitner had to leave the Salzburg area because of their
religious beliefs.

Although I have tried to find these places mentioned in the
aforementioned wedding registries, I have not been able to do so.

My great grandfather was Johann Balthas Muehlleitner b. 11 Nov 1823 in
Ziswingen. His father had the same name and was born 23 April 1779in
Buhl/Ries, Bavaria. He died 22 Oct 1823 in Ziswingen/Ries, Bavaria,
Germany. My great great great grandfather was Johann Michael
Muehlleitner who died in1791 in Buhl/Ries, Bavaria, Germany.

This is all I know of the early history of the Muehlleitner family.
Could they be on the list of the Exulantens??

Can anyone help me locate the places mentioned in the wedding
registries. Are they in Austria?

Where do I go from here??

Ruth Ann

P.S. The Muhlitner family in America will have their 100th family
reunion in a few years and I would love to share their Austrian
beginnings with all the aunts and uncles and cousins.
