Despite being one of the first who dared to voice negative comments
about this program, I have continued to look at the program and have
found a number of bugs with it, as well as an increasing wish list of
suggested improvements.
I have been a programmer and software manager for many years and I am
becoming increasingly of the opinion that the program was released
early. This was done possibly to meet the dates for the SOG Fair or
possibly because of the release of the latest version of TMG. I was
interested to see that TMG was released without its Reports functions
either, these are promised in a few days with free on-line upgrades.
Will the Reports functions for FH be free, or will we be expected to
fork out even more money please? Will we be expected to buy complete
new releases to obtain the upgrades or will these be available at
reduced prices.
I have seen a number of references to the review of this package and
what is and isn't mentioned in it. Having just read it again, I can
say there are no references to the lack of any reporting functions.
Instead, the summary includes, and I quote, "...No, it does not have
all of the bells and whistles at the moment...There are things that it
would be nice to have, but I'm sure that these will be added in later
releases...." Personally I would call Reports more than simple bells
and whistles.
To the person who asked if he should buy now, my personal advice would
be to wait and see what improvements became available in the near
future. Personally I'm still using my old set-up (Legacy vsn 4) and
only use FH to produce charts (admittingly excellent ones).
I look forward to Simon's comments.
Regards
Andrew
