Not a reply to your question, Laurel, but just to express my own interest in
producing a tenuous link between branches of a family. I have a number of
ancestors who are almost certainly related but the connection cannot be
verified. A broken line connection or a line with a cross would enable a
more understandable tree.

I would love this facility in Family Historian and wonder if any other
programs have this facility. Would it have to be built into GEDCOM or is
there already the possibility there?

Subject: [FHU] Demonstrating tentative links between individuals

Hi

I wondered whether it will be possible in the new version due out shortly to
flag up where a link (say from one generation to the previous one) is only
tentative?

I expect most of us at times make educated guesses about relationships so it
would be great to reflect this, for instance, in a chart with such links
identified in a different colour, or with a broken line, or something.

I have masses of provisional SAYER family trees, but many of them are not
yet fully proven by supporting documentation. I would like to share some of
what I have but am concerned about putting it in a public forum where some
researchers might be tempted to take all the family trees as gospel. I
always clearly state in my supporting narrative where I have made
assumptions, or educated guesses which require further investigation, but I
dont believe this is available to view on some sites like GenesReunited.

Is there a solution?

Cheers
