Thank you Jane and Peter for your reply which has solved my problem.

What I cannot understand is why the upgrade to FH 3.1 has removed the
ability to switch between diagram with boxes to diagram without boxes, at
present if you set up to remove the box, the editing features e.g. box
colours which took some time to get correct to one's liking are removed,
perhaps this is one for the wish list.
