A month deadline in advance?! How wonderful! I give myself two weeks, which
I thought was generous--still seem to be doing last-minute "fix-ups" or
"additions" until the morning it goes to the printers. Usually my printer
can have it ready for me within a 24-hour period, but I'm trying something
new this time and it's been over a week, so that experiment went awry for
sure.
I also keep my original and about-30 extras in the filing cabinet--which has
now grown to two filing cabinets (when you add in the genealogy portion, as
well). There's always someone wanting an older issue for something.
I was not keeping an index, but have recently found that it certainly would
have been a benefit to have when trying to locate something; so I'm
currently going through each issue and putting together an index to cover
the 9 years of issues. It's become a BIG job! People, if you think about
this, start it earlier! :) It's amazing to look through the very first
newsletter and see how it's improved over the years--not just the layout,
etc., but the technical aspect of the production itself.
