I've been lurking for a couple of weeks now and decided it was time to
put my two cents worth in --

My wish list:
1) I agree with the post a couple of days ago about not all families
having husband and wife.
Just in my own database I have a single mom with no husband. FO
assumes that there was a marriage and that the husband is just unknown.
Not so. FO needs to be more flexible on the composition of the family
especially in this day of sperm banks, test-tube babies and 'alternative
lifestyles'. Simply re-labeling printouts as Mother and Father as they
have on the data entry screen would be an improvement.
2) Today I tried to enter an engagement that I did not know the marriage
date. FO insisted that I enter a spouse first. I assume that the
marriage did in fact take place but I don't want to enter it until I
have some documentation. Is there some reason that the link can't be
made without making it a spousal relationship?
3) A narrative-type printout that includes more info on spouses would
be very helpful. This collateral data is so hard to share because it
is difficult to print out.

I must admit I have purchased several other 'genie' programs -- one
costing over $200 -- but I use FO6. I like the ease of data entry and
documentation. I think FO is by far the best on the market at any
price. On the other hand, Family Atlas was a big disappointment.
Maybe I just haven't fooled around with it enough but it sure didn't
live up to my expectations.

Happy searchin'
