Could be, but you might not like the results. I haven't explored all of FO 7.0's
capabilities, but, in the prior versions, you could lose some of your marriage sources
(and perhaps notes) on a merge as well as always (in my experience) family notes and
sources. Let me explain just a little and someone correct me if 7.0 is different. If I
have a couple who are duplicates, I can merge the first person just fine, but, when I
merge the other mate, I lost the marriage sources on the individual in the left side of
the window. I also lost family sources, regardless of which individual they belonged to.
Solution: with both individuals in the merge window, go to edit on the left side, go
to marriage source, memorize the source, close individual, edit individual on right side,
go to marriage source, paste the source, repeat process with each source. Don't use
family sources, but, if you do, just memorize and paste the source to another fact that
you know won't get lost, then, after the merge, put it back where you want it.
Someone please tell me if I am wrong and can do this easier with 7.0. I have noticed
that some of the merging process has been automated. Would someone who fully understands
exactly how the merge is accomplished (which things are merged automatically, deleted
automatically, etc.) please clue us in.

Amen - Been there, done that. :) Sometimes the finger is quicker than the brain. :)

Say what? Didn't quite understand what you meant there.

Can do. Simply create a new database to import the gedcom into. Then export just the
ones you want to a new gedcom and then import that into your database. But, before you
do, you might want to add a source note to each individual if someone else created it. If
7.0 still can't do a global source addition, there is a simple gedcom utility you can
download from the web that will work just fine. I've been using it for ages and have
never had a problem with it. Only thing is, you will end up with umpteen "different"
sources that are really the same. No problem with FO. Just merge them.
