If you divide your people up into multiple databases then you can not
tell how they are related to each other. You cannot do a pedigree chart
or a box chart or any kind of report at all that indicates how the
people in one database are related to those in another database.
A popular way of splitting up one's family tree is to separate one's
father's ancestors from his mother's ancestors, but remember, all of
those people are ancestors of your children and you're splitting the
tree at their grandparents. If you carried that logic forward ad
infinitum, you would end up with a separate database for each family.
If you split up your family tree into many sections, you may just as
well do away with your genealogy program and make a list on your word
processor. Any splitting apart of the family tree database is a step in
that direction.
