W>What I'm wondering about this latest sale of Broderbund is why Family
W>Origins is not even mentioned. All they talk about in the article is
W>the Top Selling Family Tree Maker and the FTM CDs, etc. I am so sick
W>and tired of hearing how wonderful FTM is. When are they going to
W>start talking about the #1 Rated Family Origins?

Ownership and money. Broderbund OWNS Family Tree Maker and all those
CDs, and only manufactures and distributes Family Origins. They want to
make FTM the best selling genealogy program. (G) That is why people
are not allowed to download FO from the website to save that exorbitant
S & H charges giving them more profit, especially for non US users. You
can usually buy FTM with its CDs from Best Buy with a $20-50 mail-in
rebate. It all started when Intuit bought Parsons, then Broderbund
bought Parsons from Intuit (except Parsons Income Tax program so Intuit
could kill it because it was a major competitor to Turbo Tax).
Broderbund had FTM and wants to kill its competitors. I wish Bruce
would go with another company who would market FO and make it the best
selling genealogy program.
